Mary Ann Kunz, age 84, of Weston, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on February 9, 2024. She was born on October 6, 1939, to Edmund and Carol (Brazelton) Crowe and grew up in Antigo, Wisconsin, the third of five siblings.

Mary married the love of her life, Walter ‘Wally’ Kunz, on September 28, 1957. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage and raised their five children in Weston, Wisconsin. They loved to camp and travel, and were shining examples of caring for neighbors and those less fortunate, love of learning, and a willingness to work hard.

Faith, family and friends were central to Mary’s life. She was a longtime and active member of St. Mary’s Oratory in Wausau and volunteered in many capacities over the years. Her welcoming smile, sparkling eyes, sense of humor and generous spirit will be greatly missed but will live on in the memories of all who knew her.

Survivors include her five children, Kathy Johnson, Patti (Jeff) Blair, Susan (Clark) Reetz, Cindy Sibley, and Tim Kunz, along with three of her siblings Bob Crowe, Pat (Pete) Helmbrecht, and Tom (Kristine) Crowe, and her brother-in-law Dave Kunz.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, brother Edmund ‘Larry’ Crowe, sister-in-law Nancy Crowe, son-in-law Jim Sibley, and sister-in-law Ruth Conone.

Funeral will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 12:00 PM. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the St. Mary’s Oratory, 325 Grand Avenue, Wausau Wisconsin.

Special thanks to her long-time friend, Cora Skidmore, all the Marshfield Clinic medical providers and Compassus Hospice staff who provided care for Mary during her battle with melanoma, and to all her family, friends and neighbors who provided limitless support and kindness.

Rosemary Brasch

Rosemary Brasch age 93, of Wausau passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Wellington Place in Rib Mountain.

She was born December 3, 1930, in Polar, Wisconsin to the late Elmer and Mabel (Tews) Fischer. After graduating from Antigo High School Rosemary moved to Wausau to seek employment. On July 1, 1950, she married fellow Antigo High School classmate, Eldren L. Brasch at Peace Lutheran Church in Antigo, and went on to celebrate 50 years of marriage.

Rosemary worked at the former Business Service Center in Wausau for many years and enjoyed the many friends she made there. She and Eldren were long-time members of Zion Lutheran Church in Wausau, and she also volunteered there after retirement. In addition, Rosemary also enjoyed volunteering at The Talent Shop in Wausau, where she sold many of her own beautifully embroidered kitchen towels.

Rosemary enjoyed life to the fullest and loved reading romance novels, playing bingo, casino gambling with her friends, playing Canasta every Sunday, Elvis, peanut M & M’s, brandy slush, Double Mint gum, her cat, Toby (named after Toby Keith), and being a wonderful mom, grandma and great grandma.

Survivors include her two daughters, Cherie (John) Hadler of Grafton, WI, and Kathy (Greg) Peterson of Wausau; grandchildren, Dan Bundner, Matt (Ebony) Bundner, Haley (Neil) Simmons, and Erin (Mark) Coleman; beloved great grandchildren, Lillian, Elizabeth (Lizzy), Allison, and Mary Simmons, Lucy and Karl Coleman; nephews David and Bob and niece, Barbara.

In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Rosemary was preceded in death by infant sister, Margie, brother, Jim and sister-in-law, Mardie.

Rosemary’s family celebrated her life at a private funeral service on Friday, February 9th at the mausoleum chapel at Restlawn Memorial Park in Wausau. Reverand Christopher Johnson, from Zion Lutheran Church, officiated.

The family would like to give special thanks and acknowledgement to the wonderful staff at Wellington Place who so lovingly cared for mom the last 6 years, especially recognizing Shannon, Kendra, Brenda, Sierra, Whitney, and McKenzie. They are also grateful for the continuous support and love given to mom and the family by Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services staff members, including a special thank you to Carla and Chaplain Natalie.

Rosemary Brasch will forever be remembered for her warm smile, infectious laughter, and the love she showered on her family and friends. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memories bring comfort and solace to all who knew and loved her.

Carolyn H. Radunz

Carolyn H. Radunz, age 91, of Wausau, passed into the waiting arms of her Savior on Monday, February 5, 2024, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Carolyn was born on July 4, 1932, in Mattoon, WI, the daughter of Lawrence and Magdalena (Waidelich) Jahnke. She was a graduate of Mattoon High School, class of 1950.

On January 31, 1953, she was united in marriage to Elroy Radunz at St John’s Lutheran Church in the village of Mattoon, WI. Elroy and Carolyn enjoyed 49 years of marriage until his passing on September 11, 2002.

She was astay-at-homemother until her two sons were in school at which time she started her career in retail sales. She was employed at Pah-Low’s gifts, Johnson Hills and Younkers department stores, all located in Wausau. Her many passions included taking care of her family, tending her flower gardens, sewing, genealogy, and reading.

Carolyn is survived by her two sons: Gary (Vicky) and Jeffrey, both of Wausau. Granddaughter- Kelli (Jerry) Pavelski, and their children Leah, Mark, Nolan, and Oliver (Stevens Point), Grandson- Matthew (Kate) Radunz (Wausau). She is also survived by her sister Reynotta Hoberecht (California) and 2 sisters-in-law; Sandra Radunz (Wausau), Arletta Jahnke (Pelican Lake), as well as many nieces, nephews.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Hannah; four brothers, Arthur, Donald, Aaron, and James; five sisters, Eleanor Olson, Lorraine Gutt, RoseMarie Wimmer, Dorothea Grosinske and Lucille Wirrer; infant sister – Mary Ann; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.

Carolyn’s family would like to thank the staff at Aspirus Wausau Hospital for the compassionate care given to our mother during her final hours. A special thank-you goes to Jessica, her weekly caregiver, who took care of our “Mom” during the last 2 ½ years.

Visitation and funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 13th, at Zion Lutheran Church – 709 N. 6th Street, Wausau, WI. Visitation is from 10am until time of service at 11am.

Interment at Pinegrove Cemetery will take place at a later date.

Kenneth “Ken” P. Zemke, 83, Wausau, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 8, 2024 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

He was born February 4, 1941 in Wausau, son of the late Paul and Leona (Heckendorf) Zemke. In July of 1969 he married Joan Krueger, she preceded him in death in February of 1982. On April 6, 1985, he married Sonia Fraitts at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Wausau. She survives.

For many years, Ken happily worked as a truck driver for a local feed mill until his retirement. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed tinkering in his garage, metal and woodworking, and creating countless furniture items for his family. His incredible projects include: gorgeous dressers for his grandchildren, an intricate grandfather clock for Sonia, and outdoor bench swings for his children, just to name a few. Ken could fix almost anything and had an uncanny talent to take anything old and unusable and breathe new life into each, making them anew again.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include, his wife, Sonia; three children, Kirt Zemke, Athens, Jay (Theresa) Zemke, Marathon and Karla Serrano-Fraitts, Wausau; grandchildren, Kahlo Vue, Kytanna Vue, Leah Zemke and Mitchell Zemke; step-grandchildren, Ricky (Angie) Crawford, Kyle (Tiffany) Crawford, Curtis Crawford and Tyler Crawford; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and first wife, Joan, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Lori Zemke; and seven siblings, Albert and Wilbur Zemke, Darlene Roeder, Irene Ninneman, Loretta Bielke, Arlene Adams and Leona Zemke.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Chris Ewan will officiate. Burial will be in the Rib View Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Marjorie T. Kryshak

Marjorie T. Kryshak, 92, Wausau passed away peacefully on Friday, February 9, 2024 while under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at North Central Health Care Center, Wausau.

She was born August 24, 1931 in the town of New Hope, Wisconsin, daughter of the late John and Lauretta (Rubbelke) Hunt. On October 24, 1953 she married Maurice A. Kryshak at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Stevens Point. They enjoyed a loving 70-year marriage with all the joys that life brings.

A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Marge dedicated her life to raising her family, sharing her love and caregiving as a registered nurse, specializing in the care of Alzheimer and disabled patients in the latter years of her 40-year career. She founded the Central Wisconsin chapter for Alzheimer’s Family Support in the 1970’s and volunteered her efforts whenever she saw the need. The enjoyment of playing her favorite solitaire card game, doing crossword puzzles, bowling with friends, or winning at Bingo were some of her many pastimes. She loved nature walks and was an avid swimmer and especially enjoyed her reading adventures. Her generous spirit will be missed by all who know her.

Survivors include her husband, Maurice Kryshak, Wausau; her children: Jeannine (Dennis) Stencil, Wausau; David (Cheryl) Kryshak, Ringle; Mark (Jodi Engum) Kryshak, Amherst; Clare (Peter Karwowski) Kryshak, Homer, Alaska, and Peggy Kryshak, Wausau; seven grandchildren: Brian and Chris (Jeannine’s family), Andy and Elizabeth (Dave’s family), Ian and Kelby (Mark’s family) and Sabina (Clare’s family), seven great grandchildren, and sisters-in-law, Judy Hunt, Texas and Ruby Hunt, Oshkosh. An additional great and a great-great grandchild are soon to arrive.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Gary Kryshak, and her siblings, Sr. Louise Hunt, Doris Konopacky, and Clifford, Lloyd, and Patrick Hunt.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2024 at St. Anne Parish, Wausau. The Pastor, Tom Lindner will preside. Entombment will be in Holy Angels Mausoleum, St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service, all at the church. Alan B. Woznicki

Alan “Abe” B. Woznicki, 76, Weston, died Friday, February 9, 2024 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born September 15, 1947 in Hatley, son of the late Edward and Velma (Doty) Woznicki. On August 2, 1969, he married Patricia Bleier at St. Florian Catholic Church, Hatley. She survives.

Abe was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the American Legion Post No. 471, Hatley. For many years, he was employed at JI Case in Schofield as a templet maker until his retirement.

Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed fishing at his property up north on the “Mondo” flowage and hunting at the Hatley 40. He especially loved to spend time with his family.

Survivors include, his wife, Patricia; son, Scott Woznicki; daughter-in-law, April Woznicki; four grandchildren, Joshua, Lucas, Hayden and Lilah Woznicki; seven siblings, Karen Breske, Lee (Kathy Robe) Woznicki, Tom (Roberta) Woznicki, Don (Cathy) Woznicki, Dan (Brenda) Woznicki, Susie Klingbile and Carol (Wendall) Silvius; brother-in-law, Ron Geurink; sister-in-law, Patty Woznicki; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian Woznicki; and three siblings, Diane Geurink and Gary and Cliff Woznicki.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Weston. Rev. Jerome Patric Maria-Francis will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Post No. 10, Wausau. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Michael T. Stachowiak, 70, Taylorsville, Utah, formerly of the Wausau and Fox Valley areas, died suddenly at home on Saturday, February 10.

Born November 16, 1953 in Wausau, to the late Fabian T. “Buck” and Dolores Stachowiak, Mike was a 1972 graduate of D.C. Everest High School, Weston, where he played varsity baseball and football before attending UWSP-Wausau. He was employed at Kimberly Clark and the former Gimbels and Marshall Fields stores in the Fox Valley before relocating to Utah more than 20 years ago. Despite his move west, he stayed in touch with his family, and always followed the Packers.

Survivors include his former wife, Nancy, Neenah; brothers Fabian, Marathon; and Scott (Kevin Kraus), Long Island City, N.Y.; nieces Crystal (Gary) Geicar, Mequon; Sara (John) Stupich, Wausau; Melissa (Brad) Van Zeeland, Freedom; Amanda (Brian) Blaschka, Wausau; and nephew Mark (Ana Jackson) Stachowiak, Wasola, Mo.; and their families. Dear friends, including Vicki and Todd Bosworth and their family, West Jordan, Utah, also survive. Mike’s brother, Mark, and sister-in-law Mary, preceded him in death.

Mike enjoyed the great outdoors, dogs, Scrabble, sports, and reading — especially current events and Beowulf. His thoughtfulness, generosity, good humor, and intelligence will be deeply missed.

No funeral is planned, per Mike’s humble wish. He asked to be remembered with a toast.
