If you've ordered used gear online from guitar center and asked them to ship it to your local guitar center store, about how long did it take to arrive from the moment you placed order?

I've order a few used stompboxes from all across the country. They will ship it ground and charge a few bucks for the shipping...takes about 3 to 4 business days assuming they ship it out the same day.
Make sure you ask ALOT of questions. The pictures don't tell the whole story. I received a few stompboxes w/o the battery covers or with the wrong knobs. I could have returned them, I guess, but it would have cost me to ship it back.

I have ordered a few used things from them and they ship very quick. 3 or 4 days is normal
have it sent to your house because if you have it sent to a nearby store they don't call to tell you it is there.
if you don't like the item you can return it to any store

Yep, I bought a used Dano 12 string last christmas time. It took a bit over a week to get from a store in California to my local store in NY State.

I bought my Gretsch that way. Called up the GC it was at to discuss it and they sent it to my local one. Opened it up there to make sure it was cool before I brought it home. 30 day return policy and you can return it to the local store. No risk at all.

Have it sent to your home. Less chance of screw-ups.
Or, are you not telling your wife about this purchase?

All you have to do is request a tracking number, then set up notifications for 'change in status'. I bought used Teles twice from different GC stores, and both times had them shipped to my local GC. I knew by email exactly when each one arrived.
I check the Used Gear section almost daily. There are deals out there every now and then!

Good timing on this thread....I was thinking about ordering something from them used, and have it shipped to house. I asked them on the phone about "what if it doesn't work?", they told me to return it to any store or call them to have it picked up if store wasn't close.

I order used from GC all the time and I love it! I only ever go to the Tonawanda location, and they're always really good about making things right if there's something off with the gear. For example, I got a brand new in box PA system for the price of the used system after the used speakers showed up damaged. They did the same thing with speaker stands after a different location simply forgot to ship them.
I have nothing but good things to say about ordering online with GC, but I assume that many of the other locations don't come close to Tonawanda in terms of customer service.
Oh, and as per your actual question, I find it typically takes around a week at most. If they ship same day, it tends to take 3 business days in my experience. You should get an email when it arrives at the store.

I did the same, and I knew my 12 string had arrived before my local store did!
And yes, I had them open it and I tried it out/ checked it out before I left the store.

I've been very tempted. Many times the deals seem to beat CL. The search engine totally sucks though. You cant search for 2 words unless they are "right next" to each other. Seems no down side. I think I'd be inclined to ship to my local store. That way if it wasn't as stated they couldn't blame it on me. But I've not heard of anyone having that hassle.

i just decided to ship to the store in case it was broken during shipment, i can get immediate refund. the guitar i ordered is only coming with a gigbag so i'm a little nervous. i've never ordered a guitar online/ebay w/o a hardshell case.
